Actually, I've had some very intelligent discussions about politics and morality in-game (mostly because all the participants were willing and intelligent). All parties involved were civil, and it was very informative and interesting.

The only thing is people shouldn't force their opinions onto others. Going into Comp Arena and shouting "omfg n00bs g0d is teh sucks" is rediculous.

Political isnt usauly an arguement. Everyone just starts and ends off saying "I hate Bush"

I on the other hand, do not hate Bush. I keep quiet though, not like anyone is going to stop and think about what I am saying anyway.

(Just realised something, when they vent their hate on Bush, some of them direct it towards America, and a huge racist battle begins... My advice, dont say anything.)

religion has a HUGE place in games, its just that talking about it seems to bring about a huge lack of good.
but on the other hand, i have had some great debates over controversial topics in GW, so its not all bad.
and as for chat filters, i leave it all on, i just ignore everything not in green or blu. works for i

Who cares...? Religion is often used as a tool to war when taken too seriously, so either tune it out, tell them to shut the hell up, or agree with it. Just don't take anything they say seriously. If I took what I heard seriously, I'd probably be at church right now

honestly, religion has no place in real life either. Haven't we learned our lesson yet?

Unless you are talking about the gods of tyria I see no relevance of religion in games... Overall discussions can become civil and there are some great debates. All of them in CA since everyone there is more relaxed.

Well, if you see something that really offends you report it. Anet will do something about it, I mean, they banned me for advertising cheese.

[QUOTE=heist23]i've had the displeasure of finding several "heated" debates over God...and if He exists or not.

What is, is, and what isn't, isn't -- whether we like it or not, whether we comprehend it or not.

Personally, I am a Christian writer and lay theologian. I take it seriously, but if I took a fantasy game seriously, I wouldn't be running a necro (gasp), and dealing with in-game "gods".

Whatever your belief, treat people right (unless you're role-playing a bad guy -- somebody has to be the villain). Good practice. If you can't do it in a fantasy world, you'll likely not do it the real world either.

hey just be glad that i dont start talking religion. a mormon serious enough in a religious discussion tends to get people baptised pretty quick.

Gotta love how many enlightened 9 year olds flock to Comp. Arenas to spread the word :\.

Honestly though, just ignore them. It's not like they cause any harm.

I agree with you "Fantasy" is "Fantasy", some may not believe it but it is fake, it is not real so well just relax and if little things like this, in a "Fantasy" game bother you well then I think you have a serious issue you need to take care of.
